Evergreen Elementary Named a Green Ribbon School by U.S. Department of Education
Evergreen Elementary School is honored to be one of two elementary schools in Washington State recognized as a 2024 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School!
The award is for schools, districts, early learning centers, and postsecondary institutions that demonstrate progress in three key areas:
- Reducing environmental impacts and costs;
- Improving health and wellness; and
- Providing effective environmental and sustainability education.
Evergreen is proud to recognize our school’s achievements such as its comprehensive STEM program, its outdoor learning environment, its native plant garden, its raised vegetable garden, its accessible hiking trails, and its Outdoor Transitional Kindergarten program.
On Earth Day, Monday, April 22, leaders from the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) and PSD visited Evergreen Elementary to celebrate the nominations and plant a tree with each Evergreen student in our outdoor learning space.
