Goal Getters: Girls Soccer in the Spotlight ⚽✨

Thursday night at Roy Anderson Field did not disappoint! The Gig Harbor Tides and Peninsula Seahawks brought energy, skill, and heart to the annual “Fish Goal” rivalry. Both varsity rosters are stacked with talented players and feature multiple players who will play at the NCAA Division I level next season.

While the scoreboard told one story, the bigger win was the teamwork, sportsmanship, and grit on display. From clutch plays to constant cheers for teammates (and even the other side), these student-athletes showed what PSD soccer is all about.

The Fish Goal isn’t just a game; it’s a community celebration. Families, friends, and fans came together to cheer, laugh, and witness student-athletes shining both on and off the field. Shout-out to the players and coaches leading the way—their dedication, sportsmanship, and love for the game set the tone for a night that reminded us again why PSD athletics are so special.

🌊 Gig Harbor Tides

The Lady Tides are off to a perfect 4-0 start this season, including a huge win against 4A Puyallup. Their season highlight so far was the Fish Goal, where both PHS and GHHS players got to shine in front of home crowds, complete with free donuts, a food truck, and a halftime dance show from H2WHOA.

With several seniors already committed to play in college, this is a talented and driven group showing strong passing, fast breaks, and smart defensive play. The Tides are setting the standard for skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship in PSD girls soccer—and fans can expect plenty of exciting action in league play this season.

🦅 Peninsula Seahawks

Coach Brambilla is back for his second season leading the Seahawks!

“We're excited to be back on the soccer pitch. I have a very talented group of players and I'm grateful to have the opportunity to coach them this year again.”

With skill, speed, and teamwork at the forefront, the Seahawks are building on last season’s momentum. The team’s dedication on the field, combined with Coach Brambilla’s guidance, sets the tone for a competitive and spirited season.

Coaches Corner: Concussion Awareness & Safety 🧠⚠️

Player safety always comes first. Concussions are serious, and early recognition and proper care can make all the difference.
  • Recognize the signs: headache, dizziness, confusion, nausea, balance issues, or changes in mood or behavior.
  • When in doubt, sit them out: never let an athlete return to play until cleared by a medical professional.
  • Follow the protocol: PSD requires proper evaluation, documentation, and return-to-play steps for every suspected concussion.
