Inclement Weather: How PSD Will Keep You Informed This Winter

With this most recent atmospheric river affecting Western Washington the next few days, we want to take this opportunity to make sure you know how the Peninsula School District will communicate any school delays, cancellations, or closures.

When Decisions Are Made

  • By 4:30 a.m.: Initial decision for delays or cancellations

  • By 6:30 a.m. Final decision if delay becomes a cancellation

  • By 12:30 p.m.: Decision about after-school and evening events (if no delay or cancellation during the school day)

  • One hour before dismissal: Information about after-school activities when there’s been a delay in the school day

How You’ll Be Notified

You’ll receive notifications through ParentSquare (message, email, and phone call), plus updates on our district website and social media. We will also notify local media outlets.

What You Need to Know

  • Delay = Schools open 1 - 2 hours late

  • Cancellation = No school for students

  • Closure = All schools and district offices are closed

Student safety is our priority in every weather-related decision. We consider road conditions, weather forecasts, power outages, and conditions across our entire district.
